Definition
Entity resolution is the decision that two records, in different systems, refer to the same real-world entity — and the record of why that decision was made.
The problem
CRM, billing, warehouse and documents disagree on names, identifiers and time. If the graph keeps them as separate nodes, queries split the organization. If it merges them without provenance, it hides the disagreement. Both failures are worse when an agent acts on the result.
What exists today
- Master data management, which is slow to change and rarely includes documents.
- Fuzzy matching without an audit of the match.
- Prompt-time stitching, which is not repeatable.
Deca10 research question
Can resolution be continuous, inspectable and reversible — so the graph can merge Customer A across systems without erasing the source of each attribute?
Evidence
Resolution quality will be reported as pairwise precision/recall on labelled enterprise pairs, plus the rate of reversible merges. Evaluation set in progress.
